Indo-Bangla Home-Secretary level talks set to begin

The Joint Working Group of India and Bangladesh will hold deliberations on implementation of the pact on demarcation of land boundary and exchange of 162 adversely-held enclaves on Friday in New Delhi.

This agreement was signed by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh during his visit to Dhaka in September.
The working group will discuss a host of issues. It will prepare agenda for the two day Home Secretary level talks beginning from Saturday.

The Indian side will be led by Home Secretary, Shri R.K.Singh whereas Shri Monzur Hussain will lead the visiting delegation.

Under the pact, held in September resolved the status of enclaves and adversely possessed areas.

India and Bangladesh share a 4,096km land boundary covering five states- West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya and Mizoram.
Border management, human trafficking, smuggling of narcotics and other goods are likely to dominate the talks. Issue like efforts to check infiltration of illegal immigrants, will also be discussed during the talks.
