Malaysian Parliament on Tuesday passed a new bill that bans street protests and lays out rules for public assemblies, amid a walkout by the entire opposition and demonstration by rights activists outside.
Gilani to call joint session of parl to discuss NATO raid 
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday said he will call a joint session of both houses of parliament to discuss the cross-border NATO air strike and the issue of a secret memorandum sent to the US military seeking help to prevent a possible military takeover in Pakistan.

17 killed, MP wounded in Iraq attacks 
At least 17 people were killed and more than 50 wounded, among them an Iraqi member of parliament, in a wave of bloody attacks mainly in and around Baghdad, security officials and an MP said.
Thousands in Syria rally against Arab sanctions 
Tens of thousands of Syrians demonstrated in the capital on Monday against the Arab League decision to impose crippling sanctions on President Bashar al-Assad's regime, a report said.
